Special back exercises were already developed by a French surgeon in the first half of the 19th century. The first back school was founded in Sweden in the early 70s.
This was followed by back schools in the USA and from the mid-1980s onwards, back schools were also known in Germany. Today, back schools are part of corporate health care and are offered in fitness studios, adult education centers or rehabilitation clinics. In some cases, health insurance companies have special contracts with fitness studios, which on the one hand guarantee a high quality standard of back schools and on the other hand offer attractive prices.
So ask directly at the health insurance company and inform yourself about the respective conditions. The management of the Rükenschule is usually taken over by a physiotherapist, occupational therapist or sports teacher, who had to acquire an additional qualification and the license to teach. In the back school the leader will pay attention to the individual requirements of each participant.
He will first ask whether a back problem or even therapeutic interventions have already been performed on the back. Thus he has an individual picture of each participant of the back school. In addition to teaching the contents of the back school, his task is to prevent his participants from being overtaxed and from training too enthusiastically.
For this reason, recognized back schools are quite manageable with a number of participants of 10 to a maximum of 20 persons. The back school instructor will not only give a frontal teaching but will also give the participant direct corrective tips or help with exercises during the course.
