Structure and properties
Ceftibuten (C15H14N4O6S2, Mr = 410.4 g/mol) is present in drugs anhydrous or as ceftibutene dihydrate.
Effects
Ceftibuten (ATC J01DA39) has bactericidal properties against Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. The effects are based on inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Indications
For the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases:
- Infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract
- Urinary tract infections
Dosage
According to the professional information. The drug is usually taken once a day fasting. The usual duration of therapy is five to ten days.
Contraindications

Interactions
Drug-drug interactions have been described with vitamin K antagonists.
Adverse effects
