Is meridol mouthwash compatible with alcohol?
If alcohol was consumed before using the mouthrinse, the subsequent use of the alcohol-free meridol mouthrinse is not a problem.
Alternatives to meridol mouthwash
In every drugstore there are many different suppliers of mouthwashes. The most important is the fluoride content, as well as a disinfecting antibacterial agent, such as chlorhexidine. There are also jellies that have a very high fluoride content and thus give the oral cavity the necessary fluoride.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The use of meridol mouthrinse during pregnancy and lactation is not prohibited, but little is known about its effect on breast milk.It is not certain whether active ingredients can pass into breast milk and how they affect the baby’s body. The application should therefore be used with caution and discussed with the treating doctor. However, good oral hygiene is particularly important for pregnant women, as they are at very high risk of tooth decay and gum disease.
Does meridol mouthwash influence the effect of the pill?
The effectiveness of the pill cannot be impaired by the use of meridol mouthwash. Changes to the gums can often be detected when taking the contraceptive pill. Due to the hormonal change when starting to take the pill, irritation or slight inflammation of the gums can occur. In such a case the use of Merdiol is even indicated.
Tooth discoloration due to meridol mouthrinse
Temporary discoloration is possible due to the added dyes in the mouthwashes. This discoloration can occur on the teeth, on plaque, on the papillae of the tongue or on the tongue itself. However, they are reversible. This means that they can be reversed after discontinuing the use of the mouthrinse. Furthermore, discoloration can be reduced to a minimum or even prevented by good and thorough brushing.
