Sternum pain during training
Chest pain can also occur during training. Usually this happens when there is not enough warming up and stretching before training or when the muscles are overloaded by too intensive training. The wrong execution of movements, especially during targeted strength training, can also lead to tension and resulting pain.
If the weights are too high, strains or torn muscle fibers can also occur, which require further treatment. A mistake that many athletes make during training is too one-sided training. If, for example, only the chest muscles are trained and not the opponent, namely the back muscles, imbalances occur which can lead to cramps, muscle shortening, restricted movement, poor posture and pain. It is therefore important during training to always make sure that this variety is varied and to take enough time before and after to warm up and stretch.
Therapy/treatment
The therapy and treatment of chest pain of any kind always depends on the cause of the pain. In addition to muscular problems, more serious diseases such as problems with the stomach, esophagus or spine can also cause the pain. It is therefore important to have the diagnosis confirmed by an experienced doctor before starting therapy or treatment.
If the chest pain is caused by bad posture and tension or by too intensive or wrong training, a physiotherapeutic treatment can usually get the problems well under control. The therapy then includes among other things: If you notice problems in yourself and these become more severe over time or occur without any recognizable cause, do not hesitate to consult a doctor to rule out more serious diseases and, if necessary, initiate therapy.
- Heating and/or cooling applications
- Electrotherapy to stimulate and relax the muscles
- Manual therapy
- Massages
- Posture training
- Targeted stretching and strengthening exercises to help those affected to get a grip on the pain and to ensure that they remain free of pain in the long term.
