Side effect
Homeopathic medicines usually have very few side effects because they contain the active ingredients in minimal doses. If side effects occur, they are usually very weak. The mercury contained can lead to hypersensitivity reactions.
Sunflower and marigold occasionally cause allergic reactions with skin rashes, itching, shortness of breath and drop in blood pressure. If these or similar symptoms occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Traumeel S tablets contain small amounts of lactose and may cause discomfort if lactose intolerant.
As with all homeopathic medicines, Traumeel should not be used for dangerous and potentially life-threatening diseases for which conventional medicine is available. The reason for this is that the effect of Traumeel has not been reliably proven in many areas of application and is based on the experience reports of individuals. If the drug does not work for the described indications such as pain, it is recommended that it should not be used any longer. Instead, drugs with a proven effect can be used.
Interaction
Traumeel S tablets should not be taken in the presence of chronic, progressive disease such as cancer, tuberculosis, multiple sclerosis, HIV infection or AIDS, inflammatory connective tissue diseases and autoimmune diseases. In addition, Traumeel S should be avoided if hypersensitivity to any of the 14 active ingredients is known. These frequently occur in Matricaria recutita (chamomile), Calendula officinalis (marigold), Bellis perennis (daisy), Echinacea (coneflower) and Arnica montana (mountain cabbage). Also in case of allergies or hypersensitivity to daisies the medicine should not be used. Children under 2 years of age should also not take Traumeel S tablets due to insufficient experience.
Dosage
Traumeel S tablets are dosed differently for acute clinical pictures than for chronic ones. If used in children, different dosage recommendations apply than for adults. It is described that the effect in chronic pain sometimes starts only after 6 weeks.
The recommended dose for adults with chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis is 1 tablet 3 times daily. For relief of all chronic pain it must be taken daily for about 6 weeks. Children from 2 – 6 years should take 1 tablet 1-2 times a day, children from 6 – 12 years should take 1 tablet 2 times a day. Adolescents from 12 years of age onwards proceed in the same way as adults and should take 1 tablet 3 times daily. When the symptoms subside, Traumeel S can be taken less frequently
