The course of the disease
The course of the disease is variable and depends on the extent of the disease. Some patients only suffer from mild gastrointestinal complaints, while other patients suffer from skin rashes, headaches and fatigue. Avoiding foods containing gluten leads to an improvement of the symptoms.
However, slightly pronounced symptoms subside more quickly than severely pronounced ones. For example, a patient who only suffers from mild gastrointestinal complaints can be symptom-free six weeks after starting the diet. In another patient, it may take a few months before this condition is reached. However, it can be said that one month after the start of the diet, the symptoms subside slightly.
How contagious is this?
Gluten sensitivity is not a contagious disease. It is rather a hypersensitivity reaction of the body to gluten. One cannot therefore be infected with this illness.
Possibly one can inherit the gluten sensitivity however. However the illness is still to a large extent misunderstood, so that one cannot give exact data over this.
