What are the dangers of the diet?
A low carb diet, which supplies the body with sufficient protein, healthy fats and minerals as well as vitamins, can achieve great consumer success, be healthy at the same time and can therefore also be used as a permanent form of nutrition. In the beginning some people still struggle with the side effects of carbohydrate deprivation. Cravings are less likely to occur, since blood sugar peaks are avoided.
Who returns after a Low Carb Di?t phase again to its old nourishing way, it must be clear itself over it; that the liver and the muscles replenish Glykogenspeicher again, with which in the body also a certain quantity water remains behind. This can be reflected in weight gain on the scales. The dreaded yoyo effect occurs when energy is supplied through food above the daily calorie requirement. One should therefore not eat after a diet phase, since otherwise energy is stored again in the form of fat reserves.
Will I stay slim permanently?
The long-term prognosis after reaching a certain target weight with the help of a low carb diet is characterized by the so-called yo-yo effect. After finishing the diet, some time passes and the weight reaches the starting point or, in the worst case, is even higher. The danger of experiencing the JoJo effect always exists when too few calories are consumed over a limited period of time.
The body goes into a kind of “starvation mode” and shuts down the metabolism. This allows it to save calories in the extreme situation that the diet is for it. As soon as the food intake is no longer regulated and food is eaten “normally” again – i.e. as before the diet – an excess of calories occurs with increased calorie intake and still reduced calorie consumption, which inevitably leads to a new extra kilograms.
Unfortunately, this phenomenon is not the exception, but what most people experience after a diet. The vicious circle of overweight, diet, yo-yo effect and renewed overweight is then difficult to break. Furthermore, the success of any diet – including the low carb diet – depends on the stamina of the person losing weight.
Especially low carb diets are particularly demanding here, as many things that are associated with special enjoyment for many people are now suddenly supposed to be forbidden. Who eats for example very gladly bread and Pasta, will do itself heavily to let this be suddenly. The danger of ravenous appetite attacks is enormous. For these reasons, many people, despite the best of intentions, do not stick to a low carb diet permanently or build in “exceptions” from time to time, which undermine their own diet.A large prognostic advantage, which results from Low Carb nutrition, is however the relatively small blood sugar mirror mirror fluctuations in the process of the Diät, since very protein-containing food saturates also very long. Current studies assume that by this long lasting saturation possibly with the next meal fewer calories could be consumed and this the actual acceptance success even still supports.
