Water gymnastics for pregnant women is also becoming increasingly popular. Here the buoyancy of the water is a decisive relief for the spine and in the group dynamics motivation is created. Partner offers can be used because the partner has a supporting effect through participation and develops a deeper understanding of the changes during pregnancy.

Summary

Physiotherapy during pregnancy offers the possibility to facilitate the birth process and to ensure and accelerate the subsequent regression. Since the body of the pregnant woman undergoes enormous changes (breast tissue, abdominal muscles, connective tissue, pelvic floor, ligamentous apparatus, back muscles, possible deficiency, blood pressure fluctuations, etc.) an adapted accompanying therapy is very important.

Consequential diseases such as pelvic floor insufficiency, incontinence or long births associated with complications can be prevented by specific preparation for pregnancy. The group dynamics in physiotherapy during pregnancy is also an important factor. It helps the pregnant woman to communicate with others, to take away her fear and to better understand and perceive her own body.

Especially pelvic floor exercises and breathing therapy have become an increasingly important part of pregnancy preparation in recent years and help the pregnant woman to perceive her own body more intensively. Also the number of natural births without caesarean section has increased due to physiotherapy during pregnancy. In addition, birth positions that facilitate childbirth can make a much faster and less painful delivery possible.
