Summary | Physiotherapy after pregnancy

Summary

After a pregnancy the mother’s body is often still strained and the regression and restoration of muscle strength and posture can be supported physiotherapeutically. Before the delivery all measures are supported by the health insurance, after the delivery co-payments can be made. In addition to the rehabilitation gymnastics – for the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles – the back muscles and the arch of the foot must also be trained.

Postural correction may be necessary, as a hollow back often develops during pregnancy. In addition to the rehabilitation courses offered, individual physiotherapy can also be prescribed. Later, after healing and regression, a special, equipment-supported training in the gym can also be carried out.

In addition, relaxation techniques, massage, fascial and trigger point treatment can complement the therapy after pregnancy. The exercise program should always be adapted to the current condition of the mother and her physical constitution. It can be started a few days after delivery with light pelvic floor exercises to promote wound healing. Later, the training becomes more demanding and is integrated into everyday life.
