The best known energy-reduced mixed diets

The Weight-Watchers as a mixed diet program is a group program with regular meetings. It is believed that individuals find it easier to lose weight in a group than alone. A certain peer pressure is created, mutual motivation has a supportive effect, problems can be discussed in the group and the participants can arrange for sports activities.

The nutritional program of this mixed diet aims at slowly reducing the weight in a very reasonable way without going hungry, about 1⁄2 kg per week.

Points are counted in the Weight Watchers. Each food product is awarded Points, which evaluate its fat content, health value and energy content.

There are about 700 groups in Germany. The sessions are subject to a fee. The average therapy duration is 3 months.

A balanced, energy-reduced mixed diet is offered, which contains approx. 1100 to 1300 Kcal. The aim is a long-term change in diet.

The average weight reduction is 5 – 10 kg during an assumed duration of 3 months. There are no available studies about the long-term success. Medical care is missing.
